Mirror – Signal – Manoeuvre – Eye Test
In the UK drivers’ eyesight is only checked before they take their practical driving test, they must be able to read a number plate at a distance of 20.5 metres and they are not asked about their vision until they reach the age of 70. It is then the responsibility of the driver to alert the DVLA if they feel their vision does not meet requirements.
Your vision can change gradually over a period of time and you may not realise you have a problem. Given the importance of being able to drive with good vision, so that you do not put yourself and others at risk unnecessarily, it is vitally important to have your eyes examined every two years or otherwise recommended by your optician.
