A heart warming tale this time. Many years ago when I had dark hair and my money was my own, I tested the eyes of a young three year old. Her Dad had brought her in because she seemed a bit clumsy and her social skills were a bit lacking. Neither he nor her Mum had any sort of visual problems so they were quite dismissive of the value of an eye exam. (attended on the prompting of a friend).
The test progressed and I found the little girl to be very highly myopic (short-sighted). Her problems were entirely associated with her very restricted vision. Spectacles were ordered up for her, obviously pretty pink ones!
When she came back to collect her spectacles she stood in amazement as she looked around the practice. They left, her specs already a permanent feature on her wee face. Not five minutes passed when her dad came into the shop crying like a baby. The wee girl had walked with him down the road and shouted that the trees had leaves! She only had seen a mass of greenery in the past. Her Dad was back to let us know we had given his daughter a whole new life! Our receptionists were blubbering away with the Dad as he joyously told his tale.
See, I can be nice.
