Great opticians and friendly staff. Went in for an eye check, arrived early and fortunately didn’t have to wait to long to be seen (no pun intended). Had not been to this opticians in two decades yet was amazed to see they still had my basic information on record when booking my appointment (albeit a bit out of date). Will definitely be going back (hopefully a bit more frequently than I have been in recent years!)
Sharp and precise diagnosis.
HMD have been my opticians for at least 20 years now and I cannot fault them. Just a few examples of their exceptional service – During COVID my specs fell from he head and I stood on them! They replaced my designer frames and lenses free of charge (all without face to face contact) &. The local chemist no longer administers eye ointments without prescription for minor eye infections. I contacted HMD regarding this because I didn’t want my eye infection to get worse. I was seen that same morning and left with the necessary prescription for the chemist. Just recently I needed minor eye surgery for a protein build up on my lens. I was referred to the eye clinic by HMD and have had the successful surgery. The opticians are thorough and professional and I’m happy to write this review to highlight their great work. Keep it up guys. X

I went to Hughes Macdonald and Davidson for an eye test on 15 April. This was the first time I had been to HMD Opticians, and I found them to be very friendly and professional. The experience was excellent, and I won’t hesitate to go back to them for an eye examination next time. I can’t recommend them highly enough. Definitely worth 5 stars!
Very efficient and welcoming. I have been to HMD several times and been seen by different opticians. They have all been very efficient, knowledgeable, effective communicators and so friendly and personable. The front of house assistants are also very knowledgeable and efficient, helping to make major choices so much easier. I’m not really one to leave reviews but I felt that I needed to share my experiences to maybe give help, confidence and encouragement to others.
After getting poked in the eye by my toddler, I phoned to see if I could get someone to look due to the worsening pain. Very friendly staff on the phone, who managed to fit me in, despite it being a busy day. Optometrist was helpful and efficient, and recommended treatment to help after having a look in my eye. I will be using them again in the future for any further eye appointments and couldn’t recommended more highly.

Excellent experience my Husband, 3 children aged 5, 9 and 11 and myself all got our eyes checked yesterday. My Youngest child is a typical boy and can’t sit still asks lots of questions and the patience and care we received was above and beyond questions were explained very simple for him to understand and nothing was too much. My middle child is autistic and had no issues at any point and left happy.
Friendly and efficient. I came as an emergency as my own optician was unavailable, and felt very comfortable and reassured.
I have went here for over 35 years. I would never go anywhere else. My children went when they were young and now go as adults. I would highly recommend Hughes MacDonald and Davidson for a friendly professional service.

I had new ‘floaters’ in one eye. I was triaged immediately over the phone and had an appointment arranged for me within 24hrs of the call. The appointment really put my mind at rest that this was a normal symptom of aging. Excellent service!

I found myself needing an eye examination and expected to purchase new spectacles. The examination was conducted by a very pleasant young man. He was very thorough and explained everything as it went along. I have previously had eye surgery for a cataract and as it turned out will need surgery again in my other eye. However it will not be necessary for several months or longer. So he advised that there was currently little point in changing my glasses now as after the cataract operation I will need a new prescription. Everything was fully explained and I will be monitored and recalled in a few months when the operation can be booked. First class service and no charge. I unreservedly recommend this optician.

Richard seen me within the hour and organised an appt at the hospital straight away for me, after his own examination. The team were quick, helpful and very understanding. I had a great experience as usual today at the opticians in Turriff. They had 2 emergencies this afternoon and kept me informed while i waited for my appointment . They carried the emergencies very efficiently and I was examined quickly and hardly lost any time at all.
